Terms for service requests
Last updated April 2026. These terms explain how our introduction service works. They are not legal advice.
What HMC does
HMC helps you describe a job and share that information with independent service providers (“handymen” or contractors) who may choose to respond. Think of it as a faster way to surface relevant local professionals—similar in spirit to searching online, but oriented around your request details and availability—not as hiring an employee of HMC or buying a guaranteed outcome from us.
We do not provide the work
HMC does not perform repairs, installations, or other services. We do not supervise, direct, or control how providers work. Any agreement about scope, timing, price, payment method, warranties, or cancellation is strictly between you and the provider you choose to engage. HMC is not a party to that agreement.
No guarantee of quality, fit, price, or outcome
We do not vet, endorse, certify, or guarantee any provider’s skills, licences, insurance, background, or business practices. A bid or message from a provider is not a recommendation from HMC. Prices shown or discussed through the platform are set by providers and may change; we do not guarantee any price, estimate, or final invoice.
Before you allow work at your property or send payment, you should ask providers directly about anything that matters to you—for example licences, insurance, references, scope of work, materials, timelines, cancellations, and how and when you will pay.
Your request and verification
You agree that the information you submit in the request form is accurate to the best of your knowledge. Where we offer phone or email verification, that only reflects that a code was entered for the contact method you provided—it does not verify identity, creditworthiness, or intent, and it is not a safety or background check.
How we may use and share your information
By submitting a request, you agree that we may use and share the information you provide—including contact details, address or service area information, description of the job, photos or media, availability, and price expectations—for purposes such as displaying your request to providers, operating and improving the service, communicating with you about your request, and complying with law. Providers who can see your request may use that information to decide whether to bid or to contact you, subject to their own practices and any agreement you reach with them.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, HMC and its operators are not liable for any disputes, damages, losses, or injuries arising from your dealings with providers, from work performed or not performed, or from reliance on information on the platform. If liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited to the minimum amount permitted by law.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continuing to use the service after changes means you accept the updated terms for new submissions, unless we are required to notify you differently under applicable law.
